The Young Naturalists' Club of British Columbia (YNC), was founded by the Vancouver Natural History Society in 2000. In 2015 it adopted the name, NatureKids BC. NatureKids introduces children age 5-12 to all facets of nature through observation and participation in educational activities. Their motto is : "Young Naturalists Observe and Conserve."

Our section of the YNC/NK was formed in April 2003, under the sponsorship of the North Okanagan Naturalists' Club and of the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. We usually meet for an "Explorer Day" on a Sunday each month, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Our members are encouraged to record their observations at all times and report them to others during the first part of our meetings (30-40 minutes), then we go out on short hikes with a specific focus (observation and/or identification of animals or plants, seeds, rocks, etc.)
