NATURE KIDS BC - NORTH OKANAGAN (VERNON)
NatureKids (formerly Young Naturalists' Club) of British Columbia, was founded by the Vancouver Natural History Society in 2000. NatureKids introduces children age 5-12 to all facets of nature through observation and participation in educational activities. Their motto is : "Young Naturalists Observe and Conserve."
Our section of the NK was formed in April 2003, under the sponsorship of the North Okanagan Naturalists' Club and of the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. We usually meet for an "Explorer Day" on a Sunday each month, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Our members are encouraged to record their observations at all times and report them to others during the first part of our meetings (30-40 minutes), then we go out on short hikes with a specific focus (observation and/or identification of animals or plants, seeds, rocks, etc.)
For more information, see the brochure below (page 1), or contact Marnie Williamson 545-4743. To join, use the form below (page 2).
