YOUNG NATURALISTS' CLUB - NORTH OKANAGAN (VERNON)
The Young Naturalists' Club of British Columbia (YNC), was founded by the Vancouver Natural History Society in 2000. It introduces children age 5-14 to all facets of nature through observation and participation in educational activities. The YNC motto is : "Young Naturalists Observe and Conserve."
Our section of the YNC was formed in April 2003, under the sponsorship of the North Okanagan Naturalists' Club and of the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. We usually meet for an "Explorer Day" on the 2nd Sunday of each month, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Our members are encouraged to record their observations at all times and report them to others during the first part of our meetings (30-40 minutes), then we go out on short hikes with a specific focus (observation and/or identification of animals or plants, seeds, rocks, etc.)
