YOUNG NATURALISTS' CLUB - NORTH OKANAGAN (VERNON)
The Young Naturalists' Club of British Columbia (YNC), was founded by the Vancouver Natural History Society in 2000. It introduces children age 5-12 to all facets of nature through observation and participation in educational activities. The YNC motto is : "Young Naturalists Observe and Conserve."

Our section of the YNC was formed in April 2003, under the sponsorship of the North Okanagan Naturalists' Club and of the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. We usually meet for an "Explorer Day" on a Sunday each month, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Our members are encouraged to record their observations at all times and report them to others during the first part of our meetings (30-40 minutes), then we go out on short hikes with a specific focus (observation and/or identification of animals or plants, seeds, rocks, etc.)

2015 Explorer Days:
All Sundays, 1-3 pm

March 29 — Animal Signs, meeting at the home of Pat McAllister to view various teaching items, including casts of animal tracks.

April 19 — Vernon’s Heronry visit and a walk in the North Vernon Park wetlands.
